Ive always thought that bowel cancer lacks discussion, it is the cancer that is not talked about enough. Yet it effects so many New Zealanders of all ages.
In May this year our friend 'brother Pat' died. Pat had very little time after diagnosis and was only 31.
He was my twin brothers best friend, and was like a brother to me. Pat always cared for, and provided for others. He would come to a BBQ with enough food to feed everyone, decorations and even games. The photo is of Pat and I at my wedding.
As a registered nurse I am used to being the able to help in some way, the last few days with Brother Pat were very hard as I wanted to help, to somehow fix things but i couldnt. Patty had a large support crew of family and friends and his amazing army family who cared for everyone. It was an honor to be there.
Im running for Team bowel cancer for Brother Pat raise awareness for a cancer that needs to be talked about soo much more.
I hope that I can increase awareness through my fundraising efforts, as nurses we always talk about poo, hopefully you can too💩!
