Hi, my name is Baden Ngan Kee. For the past 25 years I have worked in the FMCG industry, holding senior roles at Foodstuffs North Island, Cadbury, Goodman Fielder and Fonterra.
Last year I experienced lower back pain and three months later I was diagnosed with lung cancer. Prior to this I was a fit and active never-smoker who exercised five days a week and ate a healthy diet.
Following my diagnosis, I had to step away from a full time position at Foodstuffs to undergo treatment. I am highly grateful to my employer Foodstuffs whose support has allowed me to continue making a meaningful business contribution.
I have learnt to get on with life and not be constrained or defined by my illness. Family and friends have become even more important along with key physicians.
I have a supportive wife and three young children. We are now closer than ever even though the future is uncertain...
