This is my page to raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation and keep the memory alive of the loved ones lost and for people my family know of who are battling with breast cancer.
Hunter and Ruby never got to meet their amazing grandmother Carolyn who fought a brave fight against breast cancer until she passed away with all of our family around her a few years.
Whilst mum did not win her battle with cancer, as a family we got around her and had 18 quality months to spend with her and support her through the treatments and difficult times. I remember mum being so brave and positive even though her diagnoses was not what we had anticipated, I have fond memories of the time in which we spent together each morning through her radiation therapy, drinking coffee and gossiping. The strength she showed me has inspired me when faced with big hills and hurdles in life. She left a message to us all “DON’T WORRY BE HAPPY”.
It’s very easy to get caught up in our life and take things for granted, especially our family. Breast cancer can happen to anyone of our family or friends so by being part of this campaign or donating time or money we can together make sure the awareness for early detection and education is availible.
More recently a colleague of mine Annette has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and I am confident she will beat this! Hearing this news has reminded me that I cannot hide or think it won’t come back in to my life now or in the future and to stand up turn towards the problem instead of avoid the reality of this all to common problem.
This will be a difficult run for me having old injuries however this is a luxury problem. There will be no excuses for me on the day, maybe a few tears and moans but nothing on what mum experienced in her fight.
